Architectural Glass Processing Solutions

Architectural Glass Processing Solutions

Fo Shan Sky Glass Co., Ltd. provides integrated glass processing solutions for architectural and structural glass production, covering cutting, edge grinding and polishing, drilling and milling, washing, tempering, and lamination.
Architectural glass processing typically involves large-format sheets, different glass thicknesses, multiple edge requirements, and several downstream processes. Sky Glass configures the processing route around the glass dimensions, processing sequence, production volume, factory layout, and required automation level.

Solutions by Processing Requirement

Large-Format Glass Processing Solution

Large architectural glass requires stable handling throughout cutting, edge processing, drilling, washing, and downstream treatment. The solution is configured around the maximum glass dimensions, thickness, sheet weight, loading method, and transfer requirements.
The processing system can combine automatic glass cutting with edge grinding, drilling and milling, washing, and downstream tempering or lamination. Transfer tables and handling equipment can be incorporated between processing stages where continuous production is required.
This configuration reduces unnecessary manual movement of large sheets and provides a coordinated route from initial cutting to downstream processing.

Edge Processing Solution for Architectural Glass

Architectural glass may require flat edges, arris, seams, polishing, bevels, or other specified edge profiles depending on the final application.
Sky Glass integrates edge grinding and polishing into the processing sequence according to the required edge profile and finish. The configuration can include straight-line or double-edge processing equipment, with grinding and polishing stages selected according to the glass specification and finished edge requirements.
For projects requiring downstream tempering or lamination, edge processing is arranged as part of the overall production sequence rather than treated as an isolated operation.

Drilling & Milling Solution

Curtain wall glass, structural glazing, point-supported glass, and other architectural products may require holes, notches, slots, or milled sections for installation hardware.
The solution combines CNC drilling and milling with the required cutting and edge-processing stages. Hole diameter, position, quantity, notches, and machining sequence are evaluated from the product drawings and glass specifications.
This allows drilling and milling operations to be incorporated into either a standalone production setup or a connected processing line.

Washing & Downstream Processing Solution

After cutting, grinding, drilling, or milling, glass surfaces may contain particles and processing residues that need to be removed before subsequent production.
Sky Glass integrates automatic washing and drying into the processing route according to the downstream requirement. Depending on the product, the washing stage can be positioned before tempering, lamination, coating, printing, or final assembly.
For projects with multiple processing stages, transfer and handling arrangements can be used to maintain a continuous material flow between machines.

Integrated Architectural Glass Processing Flow

A typical architectural glass solution may follow:
Glass Cutting → Edge Grinding / Polishing → Drilling / Milling → Washing → Tempering / Lamination

Solution Configurations

Standalone Processing
For manufacturers adding or upgrading a specific process, Sky Glass can supply individual machines for cutting, edge processing, drilling and milling, washing, tempering, or lamination.
This configuration is suitable when the customer already has downstream equipment or only needs to increase capacity at one processing stage.

Connected Processing
Where several processes are required, the equipment can be arranged with transfer tables and handling systems to create a connected production flow.
The line configuration is determined by glass size, thickness, processing sequence, production volume, available floor space, and automation requirements.

Project-Specific Production Lines
For new production facilities or major capacity projects, Sky Glass evaluates the complete processing route rather than selecting machines independently.
The solution planning considers:

  • Glass type and thickness range
  • Maximum and minimum glass dimensions
  • Cutting and breakout requirements
  • Edge profile and finish
  • Hole, notch, and milling requirements
  • Washing and drying requirements
  • Tempering or lamination requirements
  • Target production volume
  • Material handling requirements
  • Automation level
  • Factory layout and available utilities

Manufacturing & Quality Assurance

Architectural glass processing equipment is manufactured and assembled at our Foshan facility, with steel fabrication, CNC machining, mechanical assembly, electrical integration, commissioning, and pre-shipment testing carried out within our manufacturing process.

For equipment used in large-format and heavier glass processing, production checks cover structural components, machining accuracy, mechanical alignment, and machine operation before shipment. Completed machines undergo an 8- to 24-hour continuous running and stability test before packing.
